How to play a couples card game

Before you begin

• Choose a quiet space where you won't be interrupted.
• Phones away. Light a candle, make a drink, set a relaxed mood.
• Remember: connection, not perfection — and finish while you're still enjoying it.

The five suits

• ❤️ Hearts — Love: memories, affection, gratitude.
• ♦️ Diamonds — Dreams: the future, adventures, goals.
• ♣️ Clubs — Curiosity: open questions that replace assumptions.
• ♠️ Spades — Reflection: lessons, growth, forgiveness.
• 🃏 Joker — Connection: pause the game and simply be together.

The rules

1. Take turns drawing a card and answering honestly.
2. The listener may only respond with: "Tell me more", "Thank you for telling me", or "I didn't know that."
3. One follow-up question, then swap turns.
4. An Ace is a Wild Card — a spontaneous act of affection: a kiss, a cuddle, a slow dance.
5. A Joker pauses the game for a connection moment — hold each other for a minute, share three appreciations.
6. Any question can be skipped. No pressure, ever.

Ending the evening

Ask each other: What was your favourite moment tonight? Did you learn anything about me? What would you like to do differently next time? End with a hug, a kiss, or a quiet moment — and leave looking forward to the next one.
