This Privacy Policy explains how Between Us (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the app. Between Us is operated as an Australian business. This policy describes the current version of the app.
Between Us is designed to keep your relationship data private. In the current version, all of the following is stored only on your own device, using local on-device storage. None of it is transmitted to us, to each other's devices, or to any third party:
We do not transmit the relationship content listed above as part of normal app use. Subscription identifiers and events are processed separately as described below. We do not use third-party advertising in the app.
The native app uses RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play to load subscription offers, determine introductory-offer eligibility, validate purchases and restore access. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app-user identifier and technical subscription information, including purchase history and whether an entitlement is active. An anonymous identifier can be created when the app starts, before you make a purchase. This information supports app functionality and subscription analytics. It is not your journal or relationship content. Network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for its handling of this information.
Google Play reviewers can use a private review credential to verify access through our hosted review service. Only when this option is used, the service receives the credential and the anonymous app-user identifier to validate review access and request the existing Premium entitlement through RevenueCat. The hosting provider may process technical request logs for service operation and abuse prevention. Review access does not send journal entries or relationship content to the service.
The public website provides product information, store links and conversation guides, not a playable free tier. The website is hosted by Netlify, which processes ordinary connection information needed to deliver and secure pages. Some pages use Google Analytics to measure website visits and use; analytics may use cookies and device/browser information. See Google's privacy policy. The native app does not load this website's Google Analytics tag.
Retiring the old browser app removes its cached application files, not your locally stored relationship data. If this browser contains saved data, the download page offers a user-initiated JSON archive. That export stays on your device and is not uploaded to us. Browser data does not automatically transfer to the native app, and the archive is not an app-import feature.
If you choose to share a journal entry or love note, the App uses your device's own share feature to let you send that text via your chosen app (for example Messages or Mail). We do not receive or store a copy of anything you share.
Between Us is intended for adult couples and is not directed at children. It is intended for people aged 18 and over.
Your relationship content lives in local app storage on your device only. Subscription expiry locks app content but does not delete that local content. You can permanently delete all app data at any time from Settings → Reset all app data. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data. Because we do not receive a copy of this data, we cannot retrieve it for you if it is deleted — there is no cloud backup in the current version.
If you purchase a Premium subscription, that transaction is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we do not receive or store your payment details. Apple and Google's own privacy policies govern that transaction.
As an Australian-operated app, we aim to handle information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Because your relationship data is stored only on your device and not sent to us, most access, correction, and deletion actions are things you can already do yourself in Settings. We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
